Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia

The Delegation's function is to ensure EU representation in Serbia and within this context facilitate the development of relation between the two in the areas of political, economic, trade and external assistance cooperation both financial and technical. In addition to these political and diplomatic role Delegation continues to assist further progress in all areas of the integration process with important financial sources, in order to undertake necessary reforms and harmonization of EU legislation in the accession process. The European Union invests 200 Million euros in Serbia annually on an average and has invested over 2 Billion euros in the period from 2000 to 2012. EU delegation is giving financial assistance through its pre accession funds, with 7,5 Million euros already given to the health sector, in order to develop IT systems. This project represents a continuation o'f initiated reform, with 2,5 Million euros donation.

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia

The Ministry of Health has predicted with the Republic of Serbia Health Care Development Plan of 2010 to enable in the next five years, using information and communication technologies, smooth and high-quality functioning of all parts of the healthcare system through automatization and reduction of costs of all administrative procedures and processes which accompany the main activities of the healthcare system. Relying on a Strategy for Development of Information Society in the Republic of Serbia ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia", No. 87/06) the Ministry has adopted the Program of Operation, Development and Organization of Integrated Health Information System - e-Health ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia", No. 55/09).

World Health Organization

WHO country work in Serbia is delivered through the WHO Country Office. WHO Regional Office for Europe and Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia have signed the Biennial Collaborative Agreement for the period 2012/2013, during the 61st Session of the Regional Committee of the World Health Organization for Europe. This 2012-2013 BCA is a part of the provisional Medium-term framework for collaboration between the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Ministry of Health for the six-year period 2008-2013, which corresponds to the period covered by the WHO Medium-term strategic plan (MTSP 2008-2013). The Ministry of Health and EU (using IPA funds) have requested WHO to support Serbia in developing an Integrated Health Information System that is based on Electronic Health Record (EHR). WHO, with the provision of administrative and logistic support by UNOPS, will implement this important task, together with the MoH.
